Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide staffing to class participants?
No, we do not provide support staff to the participants of our classes. We are not able to provide supervision or childcare. Generally, our classes are hosted by an expert in the subject matter and/or our Community Connections Specialist (or both). If you require HOH assistance to participate in our class, please bring a staff member or friend to assist you. Any child under the age of 18 who wishes to participate in a class must have a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult present. We have a discounted buddy pass available for classes with "consumables" for those participants who will require hand over hand assistance to fully participate, or who anticipate completing one project amongst two people. We also offer discounted rates for multiple bookings, please contact us to discuss arrangements if you would like to bring a group.
Should I bring food?
If the class you are interested in spans over a regularly scheduled mealtime and/ or is marketed as a cooking class or a food related event, we may have snacks on offer, but if you require any specially prepared meals or a modified consistency, please bring your own food as our ability to modify meals on site is limited and we take no responsibility for mealtime supervision or meal prep. Please also contact us at meaningfulconnectny@gmail.com if you have food allergies before signing up for a class, so we can ensure the planned curriculum meets your needs.
Are classes reimbursable through self direction?
Each FI has different requirements. Please utilize the chain of support within your FI to determine their approval process. You can contact us at meaningfulconnectny@gmail.com to request pdf copies of flyers or curriculum information to justify the class.
Do you provide one on one classes?
We are able to provide one-on-one classes, as well as in- home/ in- program sessions upon request with the hope that we can assist participants to reach a level of comfort that will facilitate participation in broader community events over time.
